Someone to Blame, Poetry by Bruce Whealton

[Note: This poem has appeared in lunatic chameleon journal]

The scapegoats can always be found
at any age.
They are the skinny weak boys
or the shy and scared ones, boys and girls.
How they escape notice
the invisible children.
Fate would not allow them
to stay hidden in childhood.
Something about them makes them
stick out like the first blood
on a girl's white dress.
