Check out my photos slideshow from the Serpentarium in Wilmington, NC. It is near the downtown area. It is the inspiration for a poem or two of mine. I have a phobia of snakes and yet I go here on every visit to Wilmington. I just wonder how any could have caught these deadly creatures to get them here.

Nice assembly of herps. I see some Green Tree snakes, a Bearded Lizard, a few variety of python (their bites hurt like a S.O.B. but they are not generally venomous). I saw a rattlesnake and a few of what could have been cobras//gorgeous and deadly dudes. Some of the pythons have the most intricate and stunning patterns. Those Southeast Asia and Australia blokes look like they'd be carrrying some major venom. But not all pit vipers, so it was a nice mix. Crocs and gators or boring to me, unless I was watching Steve go after them on tele. I've handled some of these before (very cautiously, and never the venomous ones...bit by a little Milk Snake once and it put tears in my eyes...OUCH. Never wanted to mess with the ones that had a real bang for their bite, thanks). That yellow fellow was some kind of python, I think. Fun snaps. This is what my daughter wants to do. Field biology (though I think mostly mammals, and ONLY capture and release). Thanks for sharing.
