Forbidden Love
The phone is loud.
It screams like
An emergency vehicle.
I have been expecting this call
All day.
I know it’s you.
I long to hear your voice,
Velvet and deep,
But I do not pick up the phone.
I go back to bed,
Bury my head in pillows and blankets
And barrier myself
Away from you.
