Sleep And The Way It Dreams
Sleep and the way it dreams inside itself
To burn up the night
I awaken in a dream within a dream
Carrying the veins of night
And a pale morning star
My feet in a far-off world
With the thinnest wash of diluted color
And walls that breath in and out of dimensions
I meet along the way old passions
Aloft and quivering in the air
Longings, like moths beating their wings
Their lives----- to light
I walk straight through to gape in wonder
And to wander among the silence
That shields my soul’s sad songs
